This year's summer written exam period runs from Monday 13th May to Tuesday 18th June 2019. However, for the summer 2019 exam series, a "contingency" period has been arranged by the exam awarding bodies which all parents and students need to be aware of. The contingency period will be used if a significant, unexpected event arises nationally or locally during the exam period, which would prevent all students (or a large number of them) from being able to take an exam when planned. The last day of the contingency period is Wednesday 26th June 2019. Of course, we all hope there won't be any disruption and that the contingency period won't be needed, but students should be available throughout the entire exam period, including the contingency period, in case the planned timetable is disrupted. This decision is not a school decision and it applies to all candidates in all schools.
Therefore all students taking formal exams this summer are required to be available until Wednesday 26th June 2019, regardless of the date of their last timetabled exam.
