PSHCE stands for Personal, Social, Health, Citizenship and Economic Education. It is designed to help keep young people safe, teaching them to assess risk and make responsible decisions. It also looks at their relationships with others, and works to develop financial awareness. The citizenship themes examine how to be a responsible, healthy citizen, how the law affects young people and how our local and national governments work.
PSHCE at Birkdale is taught in themed days. Lessons help to develop social skills and cooperation with others. Outside agencies are often invited into school to run workshops and give presentations on the PSHCE themes. This could mean that there are variations to the calendar from time to time, depending on which agencies can come in when. If you would like to have a say in what is taught during PSHCE lessons or have any queries, please contact Mrs Marshall.
