Message from the Chair of Governors – Dr Victoria Jamieson, (Interim Chair)
Birkdale High School is a thriving all-boys school – one ‘where we all belong.’ Our Governing Body plays a vital role in supporting the school to provide a high-quality education to ensure every boy reaches his full potential.
Our Board is made up of dedicated volunteers who bring a wide range of skills and experience. We work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to set the strategic direction of the school, uphold core ethos and values, and maintain high academic standards. Governors attend monthly meetings and are regularly invited to spend time in school during Open Days. These visits allow us to see the boys’ learning experiences, observe the curriculum and teaching in practice, and be genuinely immersed in the culture and atmosphere of the school.
Through this partnership, and these activities, we are committed to ensuring Birkdale High School provides a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment where every boy can thrive academically and personally.
The key responsibilities of the Governing Body include:

Ensuring clarity of strategic direction, vision, and ethos.

Supporting the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team with achieving the highest standards of educational performance for both pupils and staff.

Monitoring the financial sustainability of the school to safeguard its future.
